All Abilities School Carnival a big success

Kalability 2021 Ed Support footy carnival has been run and won on the scoreboard, but the real winners were the players, who pulled on their boots to get out and had a go.  With some experiencing football for the very first time.

100 Students from Senior Education Support Schools across Perth, came together in partnership with the West Australian Football Commission and SEDA Colleges for the first ever All Abilities football carnival, held at the picteresque UWA Sports Park in Mt Claremont.

Ms Gayle Nelson, Principal, Kalamunda Secondary Education Support Centre said “We have been running interschool sports carnivals since 2009, and I can say that this was the best one so far.

Ms Nelson went on to say, “For Phil Narkle to share Welcome to Country with us – it was very special and meaningful.

“I would also like to extend a special thank you to the students from SEDA.  They were simply brilliant.” “I spent time watching them interacting with our students and they were so friendly and patient – it takes a special type of person to work with students with disability, and all of the SEDA students were amazing.

Starkick Co-ordinator Rob Geersen said “Days like this are really important for the Western Australian Football Commission and our school community programs”

“It is important every child is provided the opportunity to experience our game, and our hope is some will have enjoyed the experience they will look to join their local community Starkick centre in the future.”

“Through Starkick and working with schools and communities we are creating those pathways”

The West Australian Football Commission also wish to thank the West Coast Eagles Football Club, and Fremantle Dockers Football Club for lending their support to this event.
